Michael
R. Josephs
Michael R. Josephs is a senior partner and one of the founding members of
Josephs Jack. He has been engaged in a multifaceted civil trial practice
for over 36 years, with a focus on complex commercial litigation, personal
injury, wrongful death, products liability and professional negligence.
From 1977 until 2006, Mr. Josephs served as the managing partner of Josephs
Jack and its predecessors
Mr. Josephs attended the University of Florida and obtained a Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration in 1966, majoring in accounting. He attended
the University of Miami School of Law and obtained a Juris Doctor, cum laude,
in 1969. That same year, he was admitted to The Florida Bar and also became
a member of the American Bar and Dade County Bar Associations. Mr. Josephs
was admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District
of Florida, Trial Bar, in 1983. He was admitted to practice before the United
States District Court in 1969, the United States Court of Appeals in 1978
and the United States Supreme Court in 1978.
Mr. Josephs is a sustaining member of the American Trial Lawyers Association,
a Diplomate of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and a former Member
of the Academy's Board of Directors, as well as a member of the General
Tort "Strike Force" Committee, FLAG and EAGLE. He also is a member
of the Dade County Trial Lawyers Association and the American Board of Trial
Advocates. Mr. Josephs
was appointed to the Supreme Court/Florida Bar Joint Committee on Mentoring and was elected chairman.
Early in his career, Mr. Josephs became involved in Florida Bar activities.
He served as Chairman of the Grievance Committee "11G" of The
Florida Bar and was a member of The Florida Bar Committee on Continuing
Legal Education. He currently serves on the editorial board of The Professional,
the publication of The Henry Latimer Center for Professionalism of The Florida

He was a member of The Florida Bar Standing Committee on Professionalism
for six years, serving as its Chairman for three of those years. He is finishing
his fourth year of service on the Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism
and serves, as well, on the 11th Circuit Commission on Professionalism.
Mr. Josephs has also served as a member and then
Chairman of the Coral Gables Pension & Retirement Board. In the past,
he was an Adjunct Professor at St. Thomas Law School, in the Trial Advocacy
Program, and he continues to serve as a volunteer in the Dade County Circuit
Court Guardian Ad Litem Program.
Mr. Josephs has lectured at a variety of Florida Bar seminars, as well
as other continuing legal education events.
Recently, Mr. Josephs won the Sookie Williams Award for Outstanding Service to the Legal Community.
It was awarded at the Dade County Bar Association's 92nd Installation Celebration on June 13, 2008 and was presented by Chris Mobley, Publisher of the Daily Business Review, and President of the Florida Division of ALM Media.
